Quite a bit different. Back in the day, there was no "lottery" -- you just went. It has been a Primitive Area on both sides of the border since, I believe, 1946.

I know a number of Yuppy fishermen of the vilest sort, those "catch and release" people. They all regard the Quetico-Superior parks as a primo location for their foolishness. (I see no reason to inflict the terror of being caught on a fish without the consequent joy of frying the sucker up in a pan.) I can imagine their discussions of arbitrage around the campfires in the evening, while they sip some vintage Chardonnay..

The only thing keeping the Yppies at bay is that these folks tend to regard themselves as trout fishermen first and the only trout readily available in that neck of the woods during the summer are Lake Trout which are then under the thermocline about 300 feet down and thus require special gear for the catching. But bass and pike abound, and I do like fishing for both with fly gear. A good-size bass on a ten-pound test line is quite a thing to land and it does take a while to accomplish.
