[rollei_list] Re: Minnesota

The Boundary Waters horribly yuppified? You still have to carry everything in with you and portage your canoe, because no motorized vehicles are allowed. And you have to get a permit in the lottery held every year for a limited number of permits. So it's not crowded at all, in fact, you probably won't see another camper for days at a time. Is that different from what you remember?

Thanks for the prompt and polite correction! I
was last in Minnesota in 1964 when Dad and a
cousin and a friend did a week's worth of
canoeing in the Quetico-Superior parks. These
are now horribly yuppified as "the Boundary
Waters" or some similar nonsense but, back then,
they were really neat. The fishing was magnificent and the solitude was grand.

I had my Voigtländer Bessa along and I still have
some shots I made at our camp on that island in Knife Lake.

If the Yuppies would go back to Wall Street, I
might go there again. But I have heard that you
have to make RESERVATIONS a year in advance now. Oy Vey!

Marc
