[rollei_list] Re: Manual FX?

From Sanders McNew :
Does anyone know offhand whether F+H
will build an FX without the TTL metering
stuff in it? If asked politely?
 Sanders

In the past at Rollei and Zeiss Ikon, as soon as built-in exposure meters were widespread, the attractiveness of camera models without built-in exposure meter seems to me quite low in comparison. Even the Rolleiflex T could be fitted with a selenium meter. The exception at Rollei 6x6 was the Rolleicord offered as an entry-level (but outstanding quality) camera. But there was (Marc will correct me if I'm wrong) a Contarex special without meter, I do not hink that so many were made, and when the Rollei SL-66 got a built-in meter, the Sl-66 X model without continuous light meter was sold in very small numbers.
And how many models sold for the Hasselblad 201-F and the Rolleiflex 6001 ?

But I agree that most of the rolleiphile gang including myself would like something like a modern Rolleicord, a modern 2.8 E3 or 3.5 E3 with no built-in meter, to be offered as an entry-level Rollei TLR camera...

Entry-level, but outstanding quality, "stripped-off deluxe features" 100% mechanical cameras seem to have vanished from the surface of the Photographic World ;-) Even the Cosi-gländer series of 35 mm rangefinder cameras, sold for about 600 euros here without lens are not a bargain !

BTW about wishes and rumors ; the rumored price tag for the Fuji-Cosi-Gländer 6x6-6x7 rangefinder Bessa-III is 2400USD / 1800 euros.

After all, taking into account the price of a new 2.8 FX TLR camera, the ratio of prices between a new Fuji-Cosi-Glânder and a true vintage Bessa is close to the ratio between the price of a new 2.8FX and a vintage 3.5F...
