[rollei_list] Re: Knee Jobs

Richard and Marc,

Speaking of "memorable" things, one thing that only brings back unpleasant memories is Railway Express :-( . Some of you guys write about unpleasant delivery service incidents with UPS, USPS, DHL or FedEx. You ain't heard nuthin' till you hear of horror stories
about Railway Express. Fortunately they died, but not soon enough for me.

Ever hear of Postal Telegraph Company? Competitors of Western Union.

Marc-- I have no record of the serial # of my 9x9 Rollei. Sorry 'bout that, Chief.

Also I'm afraid that the Pork Roll delicacy is not carried by Whole Foods Market or any of the higher end food stores in La Jolla. Maybe Jurgensons in Beverly Hills?

Jerry

Hmm. I called a couple of local auto parts
stores and none had ever heard of anysuch thing
as an "Alemite fitting" but all stocked Zerk fittings.

But, then, you've probably never heard of a
Stillson wrench, either, or, for that matter, of Jersey Pork Roll.

Marc

I _have_ a Stillson wrench_. I think Alemite was first with grease fittings and grease guns but am not sure. Its curious how much stuff which is everyday familiar to me is completely unheard of by the younger folks I talk to. Sometimes I feel like Rip van Winkle. Of course, L.A. is full of stuff that is not only gone but has left no trace whatever. Even streets get moved. Anyone remember Autolite stores? Just call Western Union and ask for operator 25, "Your always right with Autolite, Goodnight."
