Here's how things work on eBay. If the customer is not happy, for whatever reason, eBay will generally side with them. The thinking is, unhappy customers mean less people shopping on eBay. What decides things is not what so much what was written in the auction but what the customer thought, which of course the seller has no control over. But eBay is thinking, if you take back the item and give a full refund, you can sell the item to somebody else who might be happy with it. You may say that's not fair, but that's how things work nowadays. So you should offer to give the customer their money back if they return the item to you in original condition and pay inbound shipping. Don't bother offering a partial refund. Then, the onus is on the customer to respond. They can decide to either keep the item or return it. Don't give them a middle option of keeping the item and getting a partial refund. If they insist that they should not pay inbound shipping, now that becomes a fight between them and eBay, not you, unless you already have a stated policy that you would do so. And eBay can force you to take back an item even if your auction listing says as-is, no returns. It's all about having happy, satisfied customers. And before you crab about the unfairness of it all, consider that these rules can also be used by you if YOU buy something on eBay and are not happy with it- for whatever reason. 99.9% of the time, eBay will side with the buyer, they don't want to nitpick these things. --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
