The cameras are as soft as butter when it comes to serious usage. Now, it's a question of parts.
If you're thinking about their Zeiss lenses, about the only viable platform for them is the Canon digital SLR line.
If you're of the mind of getting lenses that have an interesting signature, try a Leicaflex SL with the early lenses. In particular, some stand-outs are the Elmarit-R 35mm and the Summilux-R 50mm. The perceived-value squids have yet to ferret these out, making their current market price low.
