For me to shift from film to digital would involve an investment of:
-- a NEW computer with a HUGE memory $2,000 -- Photoshop $ 750 -- Photoshop classes $ 5,000 And then we get to the equipment costs: -- camera $7,500 -- lenses $9,000 -- printer $3,500 -- chemicals $ 500 -- speciality papers $ 900 And repeat again, every month.I am not knocking digital: it has allowed a lot of BS to be posted on the Net. But, in the end, and this IS the telling point, it would cost me $35,000 as an original investment and an annual upgrade of around $7,500 to equal the quality I can now provide from my film cameras. QUALITY, not utility. I really do want to own the very best gear in the world. To do this in digital would requrie a LOT of money which would have to be updated every six months. Sorry! I am not interested.
Besides, I could never figure out Photoshop Five. It was a really bizarre program. Lots of oddball loops. Thank God it died and went away.
If I win the Lottery, guys, I will go Digital. As it is, I am a poor man, and have to stick with film.
