Yes.  Hillary carried with him a Prewar (I believe it was a Stuttgart 119
model, but I'd have to check to be certain) Retina with a Compur shutter
and a CZJ Tessar lens, and it performed flawlessly.  That grand shot of
Tenzing at the summit was taken on Kodacrhrome (12 ASA at the time I
believe, but it might have been 25 by then) and without a light meter.
Talk about grab and go!

Hillary must have had a second camera with him as there are other black and
white images from his summit climb.  But, then, perhaps these shots were
badly off due to misjudgement of exposure and so were printed as b&w shots.
 The Expedition report does not discuss this detail.
