Don,
Yes. YOU would try, because you have the experience.
As does Richard, but Jean-Marc does not. He admits
it.
I have seen real technicians charging double if a camera
has been f*&^ed up by well meaning idiots. Gunsmiths
do the same if a gun has been brought to them "in a
shoebox".

You should see my shoebox collection!

Speaking of gunsmiths, take a look here.

Terry lives in Carson City and customizes pistols for lots of neat folks, look at the website.

Terry is the son of Chet Tussey, my old diving buddy who has that neat house on Dolphin Place, at the foot of Bird Rock, the old Bird Rock Inn location.

Unfortunately, Terry, who is tough as nails, very strong, etc, used to go out most mornings with some friends in his industrial complex and do some mountain biking. About 5-6 weeks ago he went with just one guy to a very benign dirt road, taking the bikes by car. He stopped biking for a minute and then raced to catch up with his friend. Somehow he fell and hit a rock, breaking his back. He is still in the hospital, paralized from the neck down. He can now breath by himself but can't sit up long enough to be moved to rehab. I've seen a motorcycle builder work from a motorized wheel chair so I suppose Terry will be back to work some day.

I have done the same when I was building
Porsche racing engines. I want the engine intact.
I recall a well meaning Navy seaman, bringing me a
3.5 E Rolleiflex, halfway disassembled. He wanted me to
"fix it". I said I would, but it would take time and money.
Three years later, I still have it.
