To be a bit nit-picky (which I hate to do in light of your most kind words
about the COMPENDIUM), Zeiss Ikon survived though it was forced by the
Zeiss Foundation to leave camera production in 1972. And Zeiss is still
the world's most significant optical firm and has seen massive profits for
most of the years since it was no longer required to underwrite Zeiss
Ikon's camera production.

Marc,
It's always good to keep the facts straight. I was not merely being
gratuitous in my comments about your book -- it was fascinating to read and
led me to D. B. Tubbs' book and the two Contax volumes by Kuc, but it all
began with the "Compendium." All Zeiss and Contax fans owe you their thanks.

Doug
