[rollei_list] Re: A tape too thin

Yes Gregoire, I initially thought the cause for the problem was the film feeler
mechanism that couldn't perceive the thickness difference when the tape joining
film and paper back`passed through the rollers, the tape for this case is a
gummy paper thinner clearly than other tapes used for identical purpose, for
B&W films specially. However when I was less nervous at home I recalled it was
not easy to wind the paper in the empty spool, the paper slipped very much and
I needed some extra effort to advance it; I was in a hurry and advanced the
film quickly after to close the camera back, perhaps the paper slipped again
and caused the problem twice when I still wanted to take the photographs, when
I open the camera back the first and second time, the film was very loose
around the lower and upper spools. At home and after the tests I commented
yesterday and thinking about it several times, I concluded something could be
wrong with the empty spool and it was
the reason it worked when I advanced the film slowly -no paper/film slipping-
and it does not work if I advanced the film quickly, film and paper slipped a
bit or very much around the spool causing an abnormal film advance.

As I wrote, facts are that I replaced the empty spool (it has a wide slot for
the film really)putting an empty Fuji spool with a narrower slot and the hook
for the films with the hole in the initial paper tab, the film feeler mechanism
worked perfect every time the thin gummy paper passed between the rollers and
then I loaded a new Fuji Superia film into the camera and I used it last night
photographing the students spring festival with the 3.5F and the film feeler
worked right again and I took the 12 frames, my final conclusion is that the
plastic Agfa empty spool caused paper and film slipping and then the problem
for the film advance, it was not a film feeler mechanism problem.-
