HI
I was music director at my church when we decided to by a rodger 835.( it's a
great organ by the way we love it!)
I found that it was very important to make sure the congregation stayed
informed. not just about our decisions but many of the more conservative people
couldn't see why we needed a new organ the old one still played?( even though
we had gone through more that one service without the organ because it shorted
out and wouldn't play)
the next thing I encouraged my committee to do was pray. The organ goes in
God's house he knows our needs and our wants. I saw him do some amazing things.
and we made an "organ doner card" our organ was purchased by selling our old
organ for 5,000 dollars. a large donation of 8,000 dollars and small donations
made on a weekly basis. We raised the money to purchase our organ in less than
6 months.
we had considered having a rodgers clinition come and do a concert and clinic.
we didn't because the funds came in so fast.
it would have produced about 8,0000 dollars.
the organ doner card were given to church members who would make pledges or a
one time donation. it was cute and the holidays turned out to be a great time
for us to fund raise.
until that time I had never raised 48,000 dollars for anything. and I truely
believe God raised that money he just used me to be his legs arms and mouth.
hope that helps you

To all List Members:
My church has just elected an organ selection committee. I am pleased beyond
words that the church wants to move into the digital world as we presently have
a Providence 330 that is 25 years old, and still going strong I might add.
Anyway, I could use all help and ideas about fund raising and anything else you
can possibly think of that could help us reach our goal. I'm holding out for a
Trillium 967 with all the bells and whistles, and I think we'll get there. My
church celebrates its centennial in July, and my Pastor would like to have the
installation completed by then and have a dedication service as part of our
centennial. So the way I figure it, I've got less that 6 months to get this
done. I would appreciate any and all HELP that you fine people could provide.
