[rodgersorgan] Re: a real zimberstern

I live very close to Callaway Gardens. Their zimbelstern is from Chapel
Music in Lithonia, GA. www.chapel-music.com . Their zimbelsterns are very
affordable. We have one at our church. The zimbelstern at Pine Mountain
Methodist was originally in the speaker chambers. The dedicatory recital
was played by Dr. Joyce Jones and was quite impressive. She used the
zimbelstern on "The Red Dragonfly." If any of you are looking for a great
vacation, go to Callaway Gardens! They also have a 1962 (very good year-
I was born then!) Moeller Organ in their chapel, which has recently had a
lot of work done on it. Diane Bish has recorded a Joy of Music Program
there, and believe she also has a Christmas show she taped there too.
Check out Callaway Gardens as well as Chapel Music website.
www.callawaygardens.com If you come to Callaway Gardens, stop in West Point
and see our 1930 Hinners/ Rodgers 835.

ago, and close to the gardens in the First United Methodist Church, and it
houses a 3-manual Rodgers 940. The zimberstern sits atop the console, with a
wire running from it to the back of the console. The church is small enough
that the congregation can hear it when it's activated. Like I said, It has a
wooden base that's about 4 inches thick, is about 18" square, has 6 bells of
different sizes hanging from 6 hooks, arranged in a circle, while a spinning
wand strikes them, striking 2 at a time (on opposite sides), spinning very
slowly. The entire unit stands about a foot or so high.
