Christmas is always interesting at my church. By mid-November we start
constructing a very elaborate set including ice for the skating scene. We do
a mixture of popular and sacred-contemporary music for Act I. Act II is a
complete Biblical story from the birth, life, death and resurrection of
Jesus. The musical backdrop includes musical underscores with both
contemporary and traditional selections. The end is a dramatic ascension
scene, complete with flying angels.
We do a total of (8) performances for over 16,000 people. We definitely
reach our community. The cast includes almost 200 singers and 50 in the
orchestra. We use piano and organ with MIDI supplementation.
This year we are using several musical selections from a book called "Agnus
Dei"--it includes some wonderful new music.
