[rodgersorganusers] Re: Tell us about your favorite Christmas Music

Clay,

Oh, nice news on my birthday (MORE HANDEL!)

The middle route is the one I'm trying. Keeping the old titles some of
which I love dearly myself and throwing in both new titles and new MIDI
sounds as we go along. I think that in time they will come around. It =
is
just an adjustment.

Music

I guess there are two schools of thought. One is play what they want to
hear=20
(probably no more than 20 titles in that pile). The other is introduce=20
something new occasionally and try to expand their horizons while still
playing the=20
favorites. I guess a third option is take them to the new stuff cold
turkey,=20
but I wouldn't suggest that one.
That is one of the challenges we face as organists and as composers and=20
arrangers. I am between books right now (well actually, I've done a =
little
on the=20
Lent/Easter book -- more Handel Keith!). Anyway, I would be willing to =
take

requests of what your congregations would like to hear and put together =
a
book=20
of those arrangements (creativity and copyright availability willing). =
I=20
think Noel threw this general offer out to the list a few months ago, =
and
while we=20
got a few, the response was not great. I am willing to try again. =20

I would ask that you respond to the list and COPY me clay@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx =
in=20
case I miss something on the list. If I get enough (I need at least six =
--
ten=20
would be better) I will let the list know and start working on the book. =
 I=20
have two week off at the end of the year from "working for the man" so =
the=20
faster the response, the better.

I will add the caveat of any creative person that I can't guarantee that
your=20
suggestion will make it in, simply because sometimes I just can't =
"connect"=20
(yeah squishy I know) with a certain piece. But fear not. I file those
away=20
and something usually strikes me some time in the future.

If you have any questions or other comments, you are free to contact me =
off=20
list as well.

Regards,
Clay
