[rodgersorganusers] Re: Tell us about your favorite Christmas Music

My favorite Christmas Music?

I actually have two for organ:
"Angels We Have Heard On High" by Diane Dish
"He Is Born" by Albin Whitworth
(These are two that I, and my congregation really like.)

I also have several piano arrangements by Mark Hayes that are stunning.
Checkout "www.MarkHayes.com".

But I can never get thru the Christmas season without several times playing
my CD of the Virgil Fox "The Christmas Album", recorded on the big Moeller at
the Church of Saint Paul the Apostle in Manhattan in 1965. Oh, that Fanfare
Trumpet is the best!! I always try to copy that sound when voicing a Rodgers
Organ. (Has Rodgers sampled that sound yet?) For me, Christmas would not be
Christmas without this CD of Virgil.

With this group being almost completely all church musicians, I would also
like to share with you my favorite moment of the season. My church has "4"
services on Christmas Eve (5, 7, 9, and 11 p.m.), all of which I play for, and
am
the only musician. I am extremely lucky and fortunate to be at the organ,
high in the choir loft, is see all of the candles during the singing of Silent
Night at the close of each service! When 1 a.m. finally arrives, I know my
evening of a lot of wonderful work is over and I can go home with very little
traffic on the roads.

For those of us who are church organists', can you imagine Christmas without
that organ music? Thankfully, God has placed us in a position to share our
talents in making inspiring organ music for our many churches and
congregations.
My very best wishes to each of you during this busy season!

William Morris, Houston, Texas
