Hi List...
In anticipation of having my 340 Theatre Organ here in the not too distant
future, I'll be using a stereo-style subwoofer for my pedal channel.
I"m looking for the correct way to hook it up to the organ speaker system.
My subwoofer is a brand new Velodyne CHT-15 (15-inch) and on the back of
thisspeaker, as far as connections, there are 2 "in" RCA ports, 2 "out" RCA
ports and then p the the same amount of in and out for the bare wire that
hasto be tightened with the screwing of the cap to keep the contact.
2 Questions....
First, which set of connections can/should I use to connect this sub from
theconsole with?
Second, will I need a second speaker to run in parallel with the Velodyne
subin order to get the upper range of pedal channel voices like all the 8
foots and/or a coupled 4 foot as in a "calliope" sound if that's what the
music calls for. I seem to recall a very knowledgeable person telling me
there is a crossover inside the organ that can dictate where the pedal
channel will go....eg, to only the sub or to the sub and the other speakers.
The Velodyne stats are:
Freq response of 23 to 120 Hz High Pass Crossover (6 dB/octave slope):
80Hz or 100Hz
Low Pass Crossover (12 dB octave, 24 dB ultimate):
40Hz-120Hz (adjustable)
Dynamic Power: 750 watts
RMS Power: 300 watts
Inputs: Line-level and speaker-level
Outputs: Line-level and speaker-level
Crossover bypass: Subwoofer Direct
Anyways, if anyone has used a Velodyne as their sub, I'd be very interested
in hearing how it was setup and how it works and if you needed a second
higher frequence speaker for the higher notes.
Thanks very much for the assistance.
