I think the key is going to be in that "plunk" sound.  Can you e-mail me one of 
your PR-300 files which exhibit this phenomenon?  I would like to see what the 
PR-300 is picking up.
The software looks pretty stable for the 835.  Yours is one of the late 835A 
models, and was shipped out with the highest level of software. 
So back to one other question... when did this problem start happening?
I will be in Chicago this week doing a seminar, but can look at a PR-300 file 
contents during the week.
Also, have you talked to the Rodgers Dealer in your area about the problem?
