The process used in today's sampling organs is the taking of audio
samples from organ pipes and deciding how much of the sound that is
sampled is needed to accurately reflect the actual sound of pipes.
That was brought home to me today as I struggled to get a file uploaded
to the web site using Adobe Acrobat. Having recently taken Lauren's
advice I am now converting music files (dots on a page) to files that
can be printed in a much better and clearer manner. Finishing up A MIDI
Musical Christmas I then offered to let people view the file and find
the Christmas Tree for some lucky person to win a free copy.
Unfortunately I didn't realize that these new improved printing files,
rated at 1200 dpi, which is how we print them for people who buy the
music printer, would be huge. Humongous! Trying to get the file
uploaded to the site was difficult. to say the least and gave an unfair
advantage to those who have dsl and other fast forms of downloading.
They would leave those of us with dial up in the dust.
So I finally put 2 and 2 together and came out with 3...meaning I was
able to save them in a screen friendly version 1/10th size, and that is
up on the site for you to view.
This is part of the issue with those Amens and Alleluias on the
Rodgers. Part of the splendor in the design of the Rodgers PDI system
is variable sample length. When a sound, like the chimes, requires a
long sample (15 seconds in this case) it is there. Of course, listening
to a chime ring out doesn't sink home with many as a major feat...so why
not add some voices singing Amens and Alleluias! Definite proof that
the sample length is not limited in length in the Rodgers.
