Unfortunately, you are not doing anything wrong. Only the disk of "sets"
(#6) puts different sounds on each midi button, six for a two-manual,
eight for a three-manual. Otherwise you only get one sound on all
divisions, even if you have midi A and B.
By putting its midi and sequencer in one package, Rodgers/Roland has
saved us a fortune over what the same setup would be for an Allen owner,
who must buy the "smart recorder" and the Expander module. HOWEVER, the
limitation is that we must handle disks and only have access to more
than one sound when using disks 1-5 (7 is not out yet).
BTW, the "Dutch" set (14) on disc 6 has a dulzian with trem that is to
die for. It is reflective without being lugubrious. In this set, the
great gets a lovely gedackt and a "tracker" sound effect.
Attn ED and other Rodgers types: to make this system fully competitive
with Allen and Ahlhorn's modules (which play 8 sounds at once), you need
to put all the sounds on one cd rom, and release it with "make your own
set" software, so that we can produce our own floppies with the
combinations we want. You will then own this end of the business.
I've had my 787 and RS300 for seven weeks now, and am still in love.
Paul Marshall
