You're right - this model is analog, not digital. It's a cabinet organ from
the late
1970's with two ranks of pipes (principal and flute). Speakers and the taller
pipes are
in towers on each side of the main cabinet. If it's in good shape and you work
with a
technician/voicer who's familiar with it, it can be nicely regulated. Remember
though
that the majority of the pipes (plus the tweeters) are in the upper shell of the
cabinet, right in the organist's face. That's a lot of sound in your ears. Not
everybody can handle such an arrangement, especially if the pipes ares voiced
boldly
enough for a church.
Several years ago a church with a 205 commissioned the "separation" of the
organ from
its console. They were in a remodeling project and their architect designed a
space
above the rear doors for the towers and pipes. Needless to say, custom cabling
and
termination had to be created. This job also required custom woodwork to make
the
console presentable once it had been divorced from the rest of the cabinet. The
organist really felt liberated once the instrument was up and running - now he
knew how
it sounded in the congregation.
After a few more years the church replaced the original 205 console with a 950
which
required a new custom interface. Two short ranks are not much on a 950 and
would be
silly if they were unified all over the organ - but in this case they are used
for only
a handful of key stops, leaving the bulk of the registration digital. The
organ "comes
together" very well.
