[rodgersorgan] Re: RP 300 S

Randall (and others)...re "muted" PR300 sounds...have you checked your
velocity settings for EACH sound you're having trouble with? My experience
has been that velocity = volume. My PR300S uses VEL 64 as a default setting
for any and all sounds. Since the range is 0-128 (127?), 64 is in the
middle, so if I want it softer, I have to dial in a lower number...if I want
it louder, e.g., to match a big loud combination, I have to dial a higher
number, maybe 100 or more for real oomph. If you are simply picking a sound
from the handy dandy keyboard chart in the manual, e.g., #49 strings, you
will get medium VEL 64 volume by default (at least I do). Also, check to
ensure you're not picking Muted Trumpet or Muted Strings by accident.

In addition, let's say you set up #60, Muted Trumpet, on a General or
Divisional piston with MIDI A. Then you set normal non-muted trumpet, #57
on MIDI A...but your General or Divisional piston doesn't know that, since
you previously set it for #60 and that's what you'll get every time you hit
that piston until you change the whole thing AND put it on the piston, AND
adjust the velocity/volume settings while you're at it.

Also (bear with me) see pages in your organ manual that tell you about "MIDI
Stop Changes." I think you will want your settings to be "S&P" for both
"RCV" and "SEND."

Hope this helps...hope other Users will offer advice, too...if you still
have problems, yell and I will post "Uncle Noel's Secret Method For MIDI,
Type B." (Type A is "legacy" and is no longer supported :-) )
