What am I missing here?

Why should the church have to pay for this repair?  Where is the insurance 
company of the company who caused the problem to begin with?

Don't tell me that they don't have insurance.  I'm not an attorney and don't 
like their tactics, but this sounds like it should be a case for litigation.
