Dear Froggies,
On Friday evening I attended a Hector Olivera Concert at Spivey Hall in Morrow,
Georgia. OH MY!!!! The organ portion was great, but Hector on his Roland
surpasses words! I just sat and shook my head in disbelief at what the man
was doing! He "orchestrated" Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and it was
wonderful. I am sure Ethel Smith was dancing with glee as he "tore off" into
an unbelievable MIDI version of "Tico Tico." Bongos and all! It ended with
"Flight of the Bumblebee" on the pedals.
I drove 100 miles (one way) to the concert, and it was work every mile! Also,
if you get a chance to go to Spivey Hall to hear the Ruffatti Organ, go!
