Al,
Please so not take this as a personal affront but I have been reading your
posts with interest and am confused by your statements that you (Your
company) is not a dealer but rather a manufacturer's rep.
I deal with Manufacturer's reps everyday (nothing to do with organs) in
business. I have never had one of them ever act as a dealer, that is hold
inventory, do installations and provide service. Quite to the contrary they
act more like an insurance agent might where they provide information that
was passed down from the company and send off the order. The actual policy
is written by the company and most matters are handled by them. Maybe not a
perfect analogy but it would seem that if it walks like a duck and quacks
like a duck.......
Further since the manufacturer's rep is an independent agent for the company
his prices are established and maintained by the company, not the rep.
I would appreciate it if you could clarify why your company is a
manufacturer's rep and not a dealer.
Thanks
Bill

Kathy, I have been selling Rodgers for about 31 years.
As part owner of the largest Rodgers dealership in the
country, we do not quote over the phone, we do not
post prices and we don't even think in terms of a
retail price list. After evaluating each project,
working thru the process with each committee,
determining their needs, our price sheet is the dealer
wholesale prices. After determining our cost for the
specific project, we then determine the selling price.
We do not work from a retail price sheet. We build a
trust relationship with each customer/church, they get
to know us, our service, and what other services we
offer in the form of workshops, concerts, training
(unlimited), etc. It is through this relationship
building that we don't run into issues about our
pricing.
