> We learn 40-60 NEW anthems a year!!!
Wow Randall or can we call you Randy? Where do you get all the new music
and the money for it - I figure if you have a choir of 20, you didn't say;
to buy all new anthems at aproximately $2.00 per copy, let's take your middle
figure, of 50 new copies of music that would cost you $2,000 per year on new
music, right? And buying new music means storing it and cataloging it, etc.
Why don't you use some old octavos?
Well, the church I work for learns rather slowly, but they do a very
good job once they know it. It's a small choir of one male, 2 or 3 altos and
5 to 8 sopranos, with more singers for Christmas. We rehearse once a week on
Wednesday from 7:30 - about 9, longer just before cantata time and shorter on
the ends. Last year I ordered six new pieces plus a new cantata for
Christmas and they about had a cow that I spent that money, so this year,
they get what's in the files. We sing a different anthem each week, but only
do the Christmas and Easter cantata. This year I gave them 9 weeks off for
the summer and I was told this won't happen next year, even if it is only
four weak voices left. Okay, whatever, I say.
