This morning we had a talk through of the service prior to the service,
sort of a football huddle, director of music, me at the organ and the
pianist, with a choir member kibitzing. Then during the opening prayer
I started getting vocal signals from the director of music. Based upon
upon what I read from his lips, which I am not good at...and the hand
motion, I began the hymn without spoken introduction and it worked.
Also played a transition from one hymn in 3 flats to one in 4 flats,
lasted 10 measures, and ended up giving no sense of the key of the hymn
to be sung...but by holding the final chord until the director of music
began to twitch a bit I was able to let him know it was time to sing!
Any other delightful stories of the morning...
