Making friends with your service technician...
Buy a little notepad and take it with you to church, or wherever your
Rodgers Organ is.
When you get there look under the organ, above where your knees are, and
write down the model number and serial number of your organ on the
inside cover of your notepad.
When ever anything goes wrong, write down what you were playing, what
stops you were using, what pistons you were using and so on.
If you have to get permission to get service on the organ, get it, but
try to avoid the pitfalls of: Having the Pastor tell the Secretary to
call to get the organ fixed. If you call yourself and state the model
number, the serial number and what happened, you will be amazed how
happy you will make your organ tech!
Minor Self-Diagnostics you can perform:
IF THE ORGAN LIGHTS UP AND STOPS LIGHT UP BUT IT DOES NOT PLAY:
Plug your headphones in and see if it plays through the headphones.
If it does play, check circuit breakers in the church...possibly the
amplifiers might be on a different circuit than the organ and got turned
off by accident.
Also, turn the organ off and on again, and view the LCD display..it
may give you an error message to be written down...
IF NOTHING LIGHTS UP OR TURNS ON: Plug something else into the wall
socket the organ is plugged in to see if there is power.
What other hints can we think of?
