Ed,
While I'm certainly no Cakewalk expert, I will try to walk you through it. I
have posted screen shots of what I am talking about (because a picture's is
worth 1000 words) in the MIDI discussion group under the file section. If your
not a member, you can sign up for free. They are posted here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FrogMusicNotateSequence/files/ Because I
uploaded them in
order, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up.
The first thing you have to do is make sure that your snap to grid setting is
set to a quarter note so that you can select only a quarter note (I think
Cakewalk defaults to a whole note snap.) Do this by right-clicking on the time
bar at the top, selecting snap properties from the drop down and selecting
quarter.
Now highlight the beat you want to delete on the time bar ( 24:02 - 24:03).
BTW, this example posted is one of Noel's files... just in case I make a
mistake and screw it up <wink>. To do this click at the beginning of beat
24:02
and while holding the mouse button drag it right to 24:03.
Now from the Edit menu across the top, select Delete. From the Delete menu
that pops up, make sure that ALL the boxes are checked EXCEPT shift by whole
measures. Press OK and everything should shift to the left.
That should do it.
Hope this helps,
Clay
