In the Roman Catholic church, we're not allowed to do any Christmas music
during Advent. As for every Sunday being "Easter", in a way, that's true. The
Sundays don't count in the 50 days of Lent, but you're still not allowed to
sing certain things on Sundays during Lent and Advent, such as the Gloria
and/or Alleluias.

Our congregation loves to sing, but since we're a basilica (tourist
attraction), they also like to listen to the choir and organ solos, which we do
a lot of.

A recent survey done in Montreal (Catholic churches) shows that more than 80%
of people are happy with organ+choir, and would rather not have guitars and
other instruments. The youth feel the same. If music is done well, everyone's
happy.

There's one church here that has a big screen that displays the words for the
hymns. This particular church put up that screen, thinking they'd save money
not having to buy hymnals. They're problem now is that most of the congregation
has their faces buried in their misalettes, and they don't even look at the
screen. Mind you, this particular church doesn't have a 'singing' congregation.
