OK, I'll fess up.  I too am spooked by key signatures with too many
sharps or flats.  Anything with more than 3 sharps or flats is what I
consider challenging.  But here's a trick I sometimes use: If the music
is in, say, Db major (5 flats), I'll simply play it as if it were written
in D major (2 sharps).  Similarly, a piece in E major (4 sharps) can be
played as if it were written in Eb major (3 flats).  You just have to
figure out what to do with any accidentals that come along.  Use the
transposer to correct the pitch if necessary.  In the case of your short
Gb section, see if you have enough time to turn the transposer knob down
one notch and play as if in the key of G.  Remember to untranspose at the
end of the section!
