Speaking of Flutes 8 and 1: this is a favorite of mine, and use it often =
when I want a similar, but lighter effect, to, say, an 8' Principal with =
Mixture. It's a good foil against a Cromorne 8 for Basse de Cromorne =
(Clerambault). Also very useful for some of the "echo" passages in Bach =
fugues. Don't have a 1' flute? Use 1-1/3. Very similar effect. Have both =
1' and 1-1/3 flutes? Use them combined as a quasi Cymbal mixture.
Here's my guideline for registration: if I'm trying to get the registration=
right, and having troubles, start turning OFF stops. This often solves my =
problem.
Best regards,
Charlie
