[rodgersorgan] Re: Breaking the rules with mixtures.

Carlo,

You have been quiet for too long!

I feel than when you are registering music you do not have to follow
any rules....we agree on this.

But at the same time, when playing a piece of music from a certain era,
sometimes the piece takes on a special aura when suddenly you find the
right registration...and then discover in the composer's notes that that
was the sound he or she was thinking of when they wrote it.

That's what I mean by rules, I guess, guidelines of what the composers
had in mind. At the same time, Bach never had a clue that Virgil Fox,
God rest his soul, would take the simple Come, Sweet Death sacred song
and make such a grand workout of it by registering it as he did and
playing it as he did.

Dive in here, and let's talk about this...and that doesn't mean just
Carlo...I have enjoyed Charlie, Matt and Mark's comments...
