Some thoughts in response to Patrick Lane's questions:
+AD4- I have a Rodgers 340 Theatre organ with which I'm considering the purchase
+AD4- ofa new amplifier for the speakers.
+AD4- 1. The 340 plugs from the console and into the current S-100 amps are of
an
+AD4- amphenol style...basically a 5 pin plug system from the console into the
+AD4- amp.
+AD4-
+AD4- If I was to buy a modern day amp, and I'm guessing they don't use the
+AD4- amphenol type plug on present day amps, does anyone know if there is a
+AD4- converter of sorts to use to go from a 5-pin amphenol into an RCA
plug/jack
+AD4- in the amps of today? (I'm guessing the modern day amps use rca type
jacks
+AD4- and inputs)
You are guessing correctly. Best fix is to reuse the 5-pin connectors that
plug
into the back of the organ and attached appropriate new connectors to the
the amplifiers.
+AD4-
+AD4- 2. Is having a single larger +ACI-multi-channel+ACI- amp with say, 3-4
channels
of
+AD4- output a better, neutral or worse set-up? (Each channel having at least
+AD4- the100W each so it's equal to the S-100's from Rodgers)
+AD4-
+AD4- I'm trying to keep things simple and thought if I had only one amp with
the
+AD4- 3channels I need for the 340 (Main, Brass and Tibia), it would be a
simpler
+AD4- all around system....but I don't know if I'd be compromising by doing so.
+AD4- (Won't need the 4th channel pedal amp as my subwoofer is powered)
I don't believe it makes a difference as long as each channel is rated 100W.
I used two Radio Shack 100W stereo amps to handle the 4 channels.
The subwoofer may be fine for the 32' stop but its cutoff frequency may
compromise effectiveness of everything else coming through the pedal
channel.
