okay, this has come up before, but no one has ever asked the question I'm 
thinking right now, so here goes.

Lowering the Trombone by 1 octave would yield a "Contra Trombone 32", which is 
NOT the same as a "Contra Bombarde 32", the latter being much more powerful. 
You'd need a much stronger reed sound to get a true 32-foot bombard.

That wasn't actually a question!
