Yeah, I think the over-stuffed brains at Microslop heard too many folks from too many angles telling them they weren't going near the Vista disaster. Heck, even the computer manufacturers were screaming for quite a while because they were overloaded with support calls.

Hmmm. That's strange about Sweetwater. Wonder why that is? Obviously it's doable. But yeah, I've had nothing but great service from them as well.

Regarding a new interface? Well, you know where my vote goes on that front. But yeah, is there anything with an accessible interface out there?

Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

That's great.

I might do a dual boot system from them then or atleast have them make me a w7 image.

I think ms knows they'll loose money if they really cut off xp because you know those fully functioning demos are very popular when companies try and strong arm customers in to stuff they really don't want 'grin'.

Better to keep selling it and get a cut, so billy boy is a good business man.

Well, sweet-water said they couldn't do xp machines unless you supplied your own xp disk.

I'd rather buy a machine from sonica anyway since I had such a good experience with them even if it got off to a rough start but I do love sweet-water and the service I've gotten from them top notch all the way.

Now I still can't make up my mind how to round out the rest of the cash I got to spend, I think I want an audio interface upgrade but I just can't make up my mind.

I want something with a fair number of analog inputs but do we do rme, or motu or what, so many choices out there, and I want something with an accessible control pannel, yeh, I know, good luck 'grin'.

You bet! At least last week they were. I finally caved in to my own pressure and bit the bullet before Windows 7 was released. Just in case. Although, I think I lost count of how many definite XP cutoff deadlines Microslop set, and reset, and set again, and so on and so on.

Yeah, Sonica is alive and well. I just don't know what the deal was with
ADK. That is, I don't know if Guy sold out the entire business to them or
basically the management of it and he's still building the systems.

The guy I happen to talk to was Scott. Seemed like a nice guy, but heh, doesn't everyone in the sales department? Although I must give him credit. I asked why it was only 75 bucks to upgrade the dual core processor to 2.8 GHz and something like 290 bucks for the 3.06 GHz monster. I said, am I missing something here? He said, nope. Don't waste your money. There's nothing else different about that upgrade. You're paying that fat chunk of change just for a little processor booster shot.

Then he said, it pays to call. You're a previous customer so that knocks 50 bucks off the price and no shipping charge. I said, great! how 'bout a Sonica t-shirt? His response? Don't push it. Heh! Nah, I'm kidding about that last one.

Is sonica still going?

Who's the new guy to talk to over there?

They're still owned by adk right?

I just called Sonica Labs to see what they had to say regarding Windows 7.
They said, so far the OS (overall) looks pretty good, but, not exactly
what you wanted to hear, the biggest problem is waiting for software and hardware, namely drivers, to become available. So no matter which way you
go, back to XP or forward to Windows 7, you'll no doubt have a driver
search on your hands.

Oh yeah, and he talked me in to a screaming new laptop too. grin.

Good luck,
Tom
