It is indeed in preferences. Your right kind sir.
When you open the preferences, it is under general preferences. Keep tabbing
until you get to the check box that says check for updates. This check box
will be unchecked. Check it so that Winamp will not check for updates.

ok this should be pretty simple but somehow it's not. I need to set win amp
to never check for updates. thought it was under preferences i under
