That's the same conclusion we all arrived at a couple of weeks back. It's a
muddle as Apple tech support is adamant that 3rd Gen 8Gb models do support
VO. They are wrong.

Hi all,
Awhile back there was a question of which iPod touches/iPhone had voiceover.
Apparently the smaller capacity ones (8gb for example) in the 4th generation
have this capability, though their 3rd generation equivalents did not. I
hope this helps someone somewhat.
