Are you using Windows Media Player to rip music?
If so, you can go to Tools, Options, and on the Rip Music Tab, there is
a Change button.
Activating the Change button will reveal the current folder into which
CD's are ripped by default.

how strange I am finding some of the files I am looking for in wmp.

I just rip a cd with windows mp and don't know where it was saved to. I

it in the players library but no where else.
