To All Visually Impaired Citizens,
First Steps for the Blind would like to present an award to someone in the
Visually Impaired or blind community. The award will be the Packard and
Thomas Personal Empowerment Award. It will be awarded at our Christmas
party this December
The award was created to honor someone who has overcome the trauma of losing
their sight, taken dramatic steps to adjust and build a new life. Achieving
the goals that you set for yourself is personal empowerment and allows that
person to move on to help others by showing newly visually impaired persons
that there is life after blindness.
The award could also go to a person who has empowered themselves to make a
significant contribution to the blind community in general.
Please forward this letter on to every blind person or blind group that you
know of so that all may have a chance.
Please submit your entries by E-mail to save time as we only have until the
end of the month. It doesn't have to be a long letter. You just need to
tell me why the person whose name you are submitting is the one who should
receive the award. We hope to have press coverage for this honoree.
