First and most important, make sure that you have the latest Itunes,
version 9.2.
You won't see your iTouch listed in the Sources list until you connect
it to the PC.
If you connect your iTouch, nothing will happen automatically the first
time.
However, depending on how it was configured at the store, you may be
asked whether or not you wish to transfer content from your computer to
the device, or whether this is a new device.
There is no danger of losing the apps that you have purchased.
But there are restrictions regarding purchased music and how it is
automatically transferred.

The safest thing to do after you connect is to respond that you want to
sync the device.
Be sure and pay close attention to all of the various dialogs being
displayed during the process.

Subject: [real-eyes] Another Ipod Touch question

Yet another IPad question for the list:

I've never hooked my Ipod Touch up to my laptop since I had it
initialally installed at the Apple Store. When I look at ITunes, I see
distinctive listings of the other two Ipods I have installed on my
laptop (my Nano and Shuffle), but I see no distinct listing of my Ipod
Touch. I'm concerned about hooking it up and losing the $40 worth of
apps (yeah--oops!!!!) I bought for it. How can I make absolutely sure I
don't lose data the moment I hook the Ipod Touch up to my laptop?

Also, I've purchased music for the Ipod Touch that I'd also like to
include on my other IPods. Will this music automatically sync up to the
ITunes library on my laptop when I plug the Touch in to it?

Thanks,
Kim

11 pages of apps, eh??? Fabulous; I'm only halfway there!
