[real-eyes] Re: An external drive problem.

Nancy,

I know this sounds a bit odd, but I actually had an external that the =
switch didn't always make contact properly. Sometimes, just turning it =
off and back on, while connected to the computer and the computer running, =
would get it to be recognized. I finally got to where I just left it on =
at all times.

Also, I've had USB devices that sometimes needed to be unplugged and =
plugged back in while the computer was running to get the computer to =
recognize them correctly. In fact, I had a USB external hard drive that =
did this as well.

Try it and see what happens. The key is to have the computer on and give =
it a few seconds to recognize the device.

Sounds like your scanner isn't installed properly. You can go into USB=20
devices and see if anything unknown is listed. Best way is to check =
this=20
drive on another computer just to make sure it's dead but, I'm starting =
to=20
lean that way.

Hi! Okay, I looked on the hardware page in control panel. I found the
category that said "other devices open, one item." When I right arrowed =
on
it, it just took me to the next thing down on the list. which was Cano
scan, so I didn't do anything with that. The only thing under the U
category is "Universal Bus controllers closed."
