You can usually get either .TXT or .HTM files. I haven't looked at the site in a while so there may even be more options now. You certainly do not have to pay. That is the focus of the project, to get reading materials into the hands of people at no charge. ________________________________________ From: real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Duyahn Walker [themusicman1@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 2010 10:42 PM To: real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [real-eyes] Re: A real stupid question Are they just text files and don't you have to pay for it all? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Reginald George" <sgeorge@xxxxxxxxx> To: <real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 2010 8:33 PM Subject: [real-eyes] Re: A real stupid question You do not need a key for those. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Duyahn Walker" <themusicman1@xxxxxxxxx> To: <real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 2010 8:23 PM Subject: [real-eyes] Re: A real stupid question I think you need a key for them on your stream. I wonder if anyone has used this site, I have been using NLS downloads, RFB and D, and Bookshare, but I have not yet explored Project guttenberg. Yes, as long as they are truly .TXT files, and not some odd flavor. 2) Can the Stream read .DOC files? Only if you purchase the add-on pack. It will allow the Stream to read Word documents. I believe the Stream Companion will automatically convert Word documents into a different format when it transfers files to the Stream, but that is a different story. The Stream will read HTML or RTF files, so I would recommend saving your Word documents as either RTF or Web Page Filtered and transfer those to the Stream. Are you talking about some of the public domain books that are available from various sources? I'm asking because many Ebooks are PDF files, but text files should play just fine, and I've always had the best luck placing them right in the .TEXT folder. .
