It's not the right way to do it, of course, but some people told, that
the following worked for them. They had some dedicated racks, which
were agreed to "represent" servers. For each  virtual machine they
had a "server" object created and mounted into the rack, which
corresponded to the host system. To keep up some minimal data
consistency, a link to that "rack" would be then put into description of
the real server.

In fact, the current RackPlan spec I've published is the same approach
developed to some reasonable level.
