like to hear as much about other people's approaches to datacenter power
management as possible.
It's a hard problem. It gets even harder when you have to deal with
equipment that has variable numbers/types of power supplies, disks,
add-in cards, and so forth, though in truth you can skip a lot of the
details and just design for "worst case" usage. Also, every approach
I've come up with feels extremely kludgy and complicated.
