[python] Re: spring leaf as pivot

How to arrange these guidings?
Actually I wasn't very clear in my last explanation. A picture goes a long way, so I doodled the spring leaf I'm thinking of in my Python model. Here's the spring in the bike, it's the blue thing in the middle of the pivot, and it goes through the brackets:

(Nevermind the odd shape of the spring, the pivot I'm designing will have adjustable angle, so the spring just follows whatever arrangement I gave the model hinge last I worked on it)

Here's the shape of the spring alone:

You can see there are two thick sections with holes to bolt the spring to the front and rear subframe, and a thinner section in the middle that does the actual bending and load bearing. As a result, the bearings on the pivot of my model Python need not be so big as they currently are in the model (I wasn't planning on spring-loading the pivot it at first, and haven't found time to redraw it).

As for weight, it should be less than 1kg, and that's for a fail-safe paranoid design. Weight could be shaved off by reducing the thickness of the spring ends, and by greatly reducing the size of the bearings.

Anyway, I hope it shows what I'm thinking about better than my earlier prose.
