[python] Re: some thoughts

At 09:43 AM 10/14/2005, you wrote:
Weight added in front of front wheel center OR behind rear wheel center
should stabilize the whole, as the weight counters the side pressure
(avoiding the middle part falling to the wind side).

The program that I wrote (in Python!) does also indicate that, in the general case

Unfortunately, weight in front might increase wheel flop and make for
understeer.

Seems to be well reported, but I should really try it myself since I have plenty of weights around to test with and a convenient mount spot on my front frame

However , didn't someone on this list put a battery or similar weight
behind the rear wheel and report increased stability?

I did, but it was mainly the effect of the _high_ weight placement, I think, thus slowing he fall rate like a taller bike. A weight in a tailbox is what we're thinking of here, I guess

Rear weight should also create a little oversteer.

I didn't notice it, but these things are subjective, and my 25lbs of lead was not too far behind the axle

Cheers,
Ray
