[python] Re: proper wheelbase and pivot angle for 26" wheels

The heroes of the Greek struggle for independence were immensely popular. Newspapers, novels, ballads, songs and plays were produced from Italy over Germany and Britain to the USA, not to mention France. Americans were reminded of their war of Independence, Europeans expected a boost for the faltering efforts at democratisation. A lot of romantics went to Greece and joined the struggle, the most well-known of these is Percy Bysshe Shelley. If you want to get a glimpse of that time (at least the Greek perspective), read Nikos Kazantzakis`"Captain Michalis", also known under the title "Freedom and Death". Absolutely riveting. The Greek fighters for independence were kind of superstars of their day, capturing and fuelling the imagination of people everywhere. This enthusiasm can only be compared to the affection people today feel for ( to mention politically diametrically opposed figures) Che Guevara or John F. Kennedy.

Let us hope the Python recumbent also gets such mythic fame... (just trying to get back on topic by all means...) LOL

Ken,
"Originally a trading post established in 1809 by Gabriel Godfroy, a French-Canadian fur
trader from Montreal, a permanent settlement was established on the east side of the Huron River in
1823 by Major Thomas Woodruff. It was incorporated into the Territory of Michigan as the village
Woodruff's Grove. A separate community a short distance away on the west side of the river was
established in 1825 under the name "Ypsilanti", after Demetrius Ypsilanti, a hero in the
Greek war for independence. Woodruff's Grove changed its name to Ypsilanti in 1829, and the two
communities eventually merged."
from Wikipedia.

when you found a community you generally get the privilege of naming it. If
you name it for someone, it probably means you think something he/she did was
good.

Hi Jurgen,
Please excuse the fact that my language skills run more to English with a little Italian and I don't know how to use my keyboard to spell your name correctly.

I am 190 cm and I'm thinking of using a seat angle of 30 deg. What is the relationship of rider height to wheelbase? I assume just fitting the body onto the bike? I'm currently in the process of drawing my ideas to scale to insure everything will fit on board.

Cheers,
Ken

Hello Ken,

I would not use 60 deg but 65 to avoid wheel flop.

Wheelbase depends on your body height and the seat inclination. I am 180 cm tall and my P3 has a WB of 129 cm. Seat inclination is 35 deg.

Cheers,
Jürgen.

PS: Sounds funny to me: Ypsilanti ;-)

Friends,
What is the current wisdom regarding the proper wheelbase and pivot angle for 26" wheels? I have been studying the chart and I'm considering something like 110 cm and 60 degrees? I would prefer to use 406 wheels but I've only found 26 inch after searching all summer for used bikes so perhaps I'll begin with what I have. Unless I have better luck this weekend.
Thank you,
Ken
