[python] pivot again

Take a look at the Jouta trike:
http://wwwhome.cs.utwente.nl/~belinfan/jouta/joutfol03-big.jpg
except its resemblance to the python this centre steered trike
features a very simple pivot without any bearings. The pivot is a
thin ca 1.5" x 14" steel tube with nylon washers in each end. It
looks very much like the pivot on a Bob Yak trailer.
Besides the fact that such a long pivot can be in the way - would it
work on a python? The Jouta has a hideous negative trail (half a
metre) but since the pivot is placed roughly at the same distance
from the rear wheel that it would have been placed from the front
wheel on a python, I think the load would be the same.
Can someone explain the relationship between the distance between the
bearings/bushings in a pivot and the amount of radial load it can take?
Olaf
