BTW: The carbon tube approach sounds similar to a recently rumored Moulton development called "M-Dev": http://www.faltradforum.de/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=251 They say the bike will come in kit form and can be customized by the vendors. They use carbon rods clamped together between the joints by an inner steel wire ("spoke").
